DASARA FESTIVAL

Suguna:

అమ్మా! దసరా పండగ ఎప్పుడు?

မေမေ! Dasara ပွဲတော်က ဘယ်တော့လဲ။

Mother! when is the Dasara festival?

Parvati:

ఇప్పుడు దసరా పండగే. దసరా పది రోజుల పండగ. చివరి మూడు రోజులు ముఖ్యమైన పండగలు.

အခု Dasara ပွဲတော်ပဲ။ Dasara က ဆယ်ရက် ပွဲတော်။ နောက်ဆုံး သုံးရက်က  အရေးကြီးတဲ့ ပွဲတော်(နေ့)တွေ။

This is the Dasara festival period. Dasara is a ten-day festival.The important celebrations fall on the last three days.

ఆ పండగల పేర్లేమిటి?

အဲ့ဒီ နေ့တွေရဲ့ နာမည်တွေက ဘာတွေလဲ။

What are the names of those days?

Parvati:

మొదటిరోజు దుర్గాష్టమి. రెండో రోజు మహర్నవమి. చివరి రోజు విజయ దశమి.

ပထမနေ့က ဒူရဂါသျှ်တမီ။ ဒုတိယ နေ့က မဟရ်နဝမိ။ နောက်ဆုံးနေ့က ဝိဂျယဒသျှမီ။

The first day is 'Durg!s ami'. The second day is 'Mahar-navami'. The last day is 'Vijayadashami'.

Suguna:

విజయదశమి ఎన్నో తారీకు?

Vijayadasami က ဘယ်နှရက်နေ့လဲ။

What is the date of Vijayadasami.

Parvati:

ఇరవయ్యో తారీకు.

20 ရက်နေ့။

20th of this month.

Suguna:

ఇవ్వేళ పద్ధెనిమిదో తారీకు. రేపు పంధొమ్మిది. ఎల్లుండి ఇరవై. అయితే విజయదశమి ఎల్లుండి అన్నమాట!

ဒီနေ့က 18 ရက်နေ့။ မနက်ဖြန် ၁၉ ရက်နေ့။ သန်ဘက်ခါက 20 ရက်နေ့။ ဆိုတော့ ဝိဂျယဒသျှမီက သန်ဘက်ခါ ပေါ့။

Today is 18th. Tomorrow is 19th. The day after tomorrow is 20th. Then Vijayadasami is on the day after tomorrow.

Vijaya:

గీతా! ఈ పెట్టెలో చీరలు ఎవరివి?

ဂီးသား၊ ဒီ သေတ္တာထဲက ဆာရီတွေ ဘယ်သူ့ဟာတွေလဲ။

Gita! Whose saris are these in this box?

Geeta:

కొన్ని నావి.

တချို့ဟာတွေက ငါ့ဟာတွေ။

Some are mine.

Vijaya:

ఇవి కొత్త చరలా?

ဒီ ဆာရီ အသစ်တွေလား။

Are these new saris?

Geeta:

అవును. ఇవి పండుగ చీరలు. ఇప్పుడు దసరా కదా!

ဟုတ်တယ်။ ဒါတွေက  ပွဲတော် ဆာရီတွေ ။ အခု Dasara မဟုတ်လား။?

Yes. They are festival saris. Now it is Dasara. Isn't it?

Vijaya:

అవును. ఈ చీరలు అన్నీ నీవేనా?

ဟုတ်တယ်။ ဒါတွေအားလုံး မင်းဟာတွေလား။

Yes. Are all these saris yours?

Geeta:

కొన్ని నావి.

တချို့ဟာတွေက ငါ့ဟာတွေ။

Some are mine.

Vijaya:

ఏవి నీవి?

ဘယ်ဟာတွေက မင်းဟာတွေလဲ။

Which are yours?

Geeta:

ఈ ఆకుపచ్చ చీర, ఈ గులాబీ రంగు చీర నావి.

ဒီ အစိမ်းရောင် ဆာရီ နဲ့ ဒီ ပန်း‌ရောင် ဆာရီက ငါ့ဟာတွေ။

This green sari and this rose sari are mine.

Vijaya:

మిగిలిన చీరలు ఎవరివి?

ကျန်တဲ့ ဆာရီတွေက ဘယ်သူ့ဟာတွေလဲ။

Whose saris are the rest?

Geeta:

ఎర్ర చీర, తెల్ల చీర మా అమ్మవి. పసుపుపచ్చ చీర మా అక్కయ్యది. మిగిలినవి మా వదినవి. ఇదుగో ఈ ఫోటోలో ఆవిడ మా వదిన.

ဆာရီ အနီနဲ့ ဆာရီအဖြူက အမေ့ဟာ။ အဝါရောင် ဆာရီက ငါ့ အစ်မဟာ။ ကျန်တာတွေက ငါ့ ယောင်းမဟာ။ ဒီမှာလေ ဒီ ဓါတ်ပုံထဲက အဲ့(အမျိုးသမီး) တစ်ယောက်က  ငါ့ ယောင်းမ။

The red sari and the white sari are my mother's. The yellow sari is elder sister's. The rest are my sister-in-law's. Look

here. The lady in this photograph is my sister-in-law.

Vijaya:

ఈవిడేనా మీ వదిన? ఈవిడ మీ కాలేజీలో లెక్చరర్ కదూ?

သူလား နင့် ယောင်းမ။ သူက ‌ကော့လိပ်မှာ  ကထိက မဟုတ်လား။

Is she your sister-in-law? She is a lecturer in your college. Isn't she?

అవును.

ဟုတ်တယ်။

ఈవిడ పేరు సరోజ కదూ?

သူ့ နာမည် Saroja မဟုတ်လား?

Her name is Saroja. Isn't it?

అవును.

ఆవిడ ఇప్పుడు ఎక్కడున్నారు?

သူမ အခု ဘယ်မှာလဲ?

Geeta:

ఇక్కడే ఉంది. ఇవి ఆవిడ చీరలే!

ဒီမှာပဲ ရှိတယ်။ ဒီဟာတွေက သူမ ဆာရီတွေပဲ။

She is here. These are her saris.

Kamala:

లీలా! ఈ కొత్త బట్టలలో ఏవి నీవి?

လီလာ ဒီ အဝတ်အစား အသစ်တွေ ထဲမှာ ဘယ်ဟာတွေက မင်းဟာလဲ။

Leela! Which are yours in these new clothes?

Leela:

ఈ తెల్లగౌను నాది. ఈ ఎర్రది కూడా నాదే.

ဒီဂါဝန် အဖြူက ငါ့ဟာ။ ဒီ အနီလည်း ငါ့ဟာပဲ။

This white gown/frock is mine. This red one is also mine.

Kamala:

ఈ ఎర్రది నీదా? ఈ చొక్కా ఎవరిది?

ဒီ အနီ က မင်းဟာလား။ ဒီ အင်္ကျီ ဘယ်သူ့ဟာလဲ။

Is this red one yours? Whose shirt is this?

Leela:

ఇది మా బాబుది.

ဒါ ငါ့ သားဟာ ။

This is our Babu's.

Kamala:

మీ బాబు ఎన్నో తరగతి?

မင်းရဲ့  သား က ဘယ်နှတန်းလဲ။

Which class is your Babu in?

Leela:

ఆరో తరగతి

၆ တန်းပါ။

6th class.

Kamala:

ఇవిగో ఇవి మా పండగ బట్టలు. నాది ఆకుపచ్చ గౌను. మా తమ్ముడిది నల్ల చొక్క.

ဒါတွေက ပွဲတော် အဝတ်အစားတွေ။ ငါ့ဟာက အစိမ်းရောင် ဂါဝန်။ ငါ့ ‌မောင်လေးဟာက အနက်ရောင် အင်္ကျီ။

Here are our festival clothes. Mine is the green gown/frock. My brother's is the black shirt.

Leela:

ఎరుపు మంచి రంగు. ఆకుపచ్చా నలుపూ మంచి రంగులు కాదు.

အနီက ကောင်းတယ်။ အစိမ်း နဲ့ အနက် က မကောင်းဘူး။

The red is a nice colour. The green and the black are not good colours.

Kamala:

తెలుపు కూడా మంచి రంగే.

အဖြူ​လည်း ​ကောင်းတဲ့ အရောင်ပဲ​။

The white is also a good/nice colour.

Leela:

ఆకుపచ్చ మంచి రంగు కాదా? ఆకులు ఆకుపచ్చ.

အစိမ်းရောင်က မကောင်းဘူးလား။ သစ်ရွက်တွေက အစိမ်းရောင်။

Is not the green a good/nice colour? The leaves are green.

Kamala:

పూలు ఎరుపు.

ပန်းတွေက အနီရောင်။

The flowers are red.

Leela:

ఆకులు అన్నీ ఆకుపచ్చ రంగే. పూలు అన్నీ ఎరుపు కాదు. కొన్ని ఎరుపు. కొన్ని తెలుపు. కొన్ని పసుపుపచ్చ. కొన్ని గులాబీ రంగు.

သစ်ရွက်အားလုံးက စိမ်းတယ်။ ဒါပေမယ့် ပန်းတွေအားလုံးက အနီရောင် မဟုတ်ဘူး။ တချို့က အနီ၊ တချို့က အဖြူ၊ တချို့က အဝါဖြစ်ပြီး တချို့က ပန်းရောင်။

All the leaves are green. But all the flowers are not red. Some are red, some are white, some are yellow and some are rose in colour.

Kamala:

అదుగో మా నాన్నగారు. ఇవ్వేళ సెలవు. ఇంటి దగ్గరే ఉన్నారు. నాన్నగారూ! ఆకుపచ్చ మంచిరంగా! ఎరుపు మంచి రంగా?

ဟို့မှာ ငါတို့ အဖေ။ ဒီနေ့ ပိတ်ရက် လေ။ သူက အိမ်မှာပဲ ရှိနေတယ်။ ဖေဖေ! အစိမ်းရောင်က  ကောင်း လား။ အနီရောင်က  ကောင်းလား။

There my father is. It is holiday today. He is at home. Father! Is green a good / nice colour? or red?
